We've all seen those, sometimes over-the-top pageant moms, mothers who encourage their young daughters to compete in beauty competitions. But what about pageant dads? The world of glitzy makeup and glamorous wardrobes is getting unexpected makeover, Pint-size beauty queens are getting help now from their fathers too. And two of them are back with us this morning answering your questions. David Perez is here with his 4-year old daughter Eva and Lon Enos is here with his 11-year daughter Halia. They were both featured in People magazine. And Joey Bartolomeo wrote the story. Good morning to all of you once again. Our viewers have been writing in and they got a lot of good questions for you. And let's get right to it. Starting off with Magi Jackson in Michigan and she asks if the girls decide they've had enough and they want to stop, will you let them? David.
Oh, definitely. This is her choice to do this? Yeah, she enjoys, I mean, she, this is a big part of her life right now. I mean she is 4 years old. But, yeah, she will grow up one day and say you know what, this is it, for me. What would it be?
And what about you, Lon? It's the same. As long as she is happy doing it, that's some she wants to do, then we will keep doing it. But if she wants to stop today then we stop, you know, just…It's her call.
It's her call. It's her deal. You know, so we just let her pick and choose.
I just want to understand what exactly are they competing in, when they are competing at the events -beauty pageants? Basically, there are certain divisions, age divisions. And they are competing for basically grand title like Grand Supreme or Ultimate Supreme which is the highest title you can win. That is everything from their dress to bathing suit competition?
Yes, they’re from beauty to, you know, it's just depend on what categories. There are all different categories, western wears, outfit of choice, beauty, talent.
Talent, part of it as well. So it varies, you know.
It's very much like what we would see in the mean, Miss America, Miss USA type pageant. OK, next question is coming to us from Candy Macclenny, Florida who writes “From watching Toddlers and Tiaras, I've seen a lot of the pageant contestants have meltdowns. Sometimes I am disappointed by the mother's response. Do you think as fathers you handle these inevitable moments differently? What do you do to keep that from happening?” Those melt downs.
