He faces life in prison, but remains defiant. In a New York court room, Faisal Shahzad pleaded guilty to the failed car bombing of Times Square and threatened further attacks. He faces 10 charges in all. Amongst them, the attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction and terrorism. In the statement read out in court, he defended his actions, saying his aim had been to force the US to pull out of Muslim countries. Explosive teams were able to make the device safe. It had been designed to cause mass casualties. 2 days later, Shahzad was detained as he trying to flee to Dubai. He has since given full details of his attempted attack to the US authorities. Shahzad is a Pakistani-born US citizen. He told the judge he received bomb making training from the Pakistani Taliban.
