BEIJING, Feb. 21 (Xinhuanet)--Perry Moore, the executive producer of the fantasy movie series for children “The Chronicles of Narnia”, died at the age of 39, according to media reports Monday.
Moore was found unconscious(无意识的) in the bathroom of his Manhattan home by his life partner at about 9:30 a.m. last Thursday, and died later in hospital, sources quoted in media reports said.
The police said that the exact cause of Moore’s unexpected death would be determined by a medical examiner, though sources said that it might be due to an overdose of OxyContin. Suspicion(怀疑,猜疑) of a crime has been excluded by the police.
Moore helped produce three of the seven Narnia movies, which, based on the novels by C.S. Lewis, grossed over 1.5 billion dollars.
He wrote a book about the production of the first Narnia movie “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.” It was once on the paperback best-seller list of the New York Times.
Moore was also the author of “Hero”, a novle about a gay superhero, which won a Lambda Literary Award as the best novel for young gay and lesbian adults in 2008.
Moore, who was a gay himself, said his purpose of writing this novel was to counterbalance the deep-rooted negative image of gays, saying he had a "borderline-crazy belief in the power of literature to change the universe".
Moreover, Moore co-directed “Lake City”, starring Sissy Spacek and Rebecca Romijn, in 2008.
