1. The confirmed death toll from wild storms in North Carolina has risen to more than 20. In Bladen County alone, 82 homes were damaged and 25 destroyed. At least 43 people died in three days of tornadoes from Oklahoma to Virginia.

 

2. New work rules announced by the government give air traffic controllers more time to rest between shifts. In recent months there have been five instances of controllers dozing off while on duty.

 

3. Rescuers are working to reach a miner caught in a cave-in more than a mile underground in Idaho. There's been no contact with the miner since the tunnel roof collapsed Friday.

 

4. And from the Vatican to the Middle East, celebrations for Palm Sunday. According to the New Testament, Palm Sunday marks the day Jesus rode into Jerusalem, greeted by cheering crowds bearing palm fronds.
