BERLIN, May 25 (Xinhua) -- Borussia Monchengladbach carved out a 2-1 win on aggregate against second-division team Bochum to stay in the first division thanks to a late equalizer by striker Marco Reus on Wednesday.

The "Fohlen" smoothed the way for first division already at the first leg last week due to the controversial goal by Monchengladbach joker striker Igor De Camargo before the final whistle.
A draw would be sufficient for the "Fohlen" to wrap first division but defender Havard Nordtveit flabbergasted his side with a clearance attempt into his own goal to give Bochum the lead with 24 minutes into the match.
After the break Monchengladbach recovered from the shock as youngster midfielder Marco Reus utilized an assist by joker striker Camargo at the 72nd minute to hammer the equalizer into top right.
Bochum remained battered and unable to fight back so that Monchengladbach sealed continuance in first division after a disastrous season with 16th position.
"We have deserved to stay in first division. With the late winner at first leg we smoothed the victory at the play off," Monchengladbach coach Lucien Favre said.
"We were an equal opponent. The luckier team will remain in the Bundesliga," Bochum coach Friedhelm Funkel said after the defeat.(本文由在线英语听力室整理编辑)
