Hello, Mellissa Hamilton with the National Weather.

Checking the satellite image first and you can see cloud over the interior in a trough. That’s causing a few showers and storms inland. A streaky band of cloud is extending all along the South Australian coast, but isn’t causing any rain. Cloud in the tail end of a front is clipping southwest Western Australia, causing light showers.

Around the states now, it will be cloudy but dry over much of Queensland today. Just some scattered showers above the far Northern Tropics and South Coast. Much the same in New South Wales, there will be patchy rain above the coast, but mostly fine over the rest of the state. You need to keep your brolly handy in Victoria-there will be rain in most areas with morning fog in the east. Tasmania is also in for some wet weather, there will be showers across the state with snow to 1000 meters. There also be scattered showers in South Australia’s southeast, but it should be cloudy but fine elsewhere. Western Australia could expect some coastal drizzle in the south, but it should be mostly sunny and hot elsewhere, much the same in the northern territory, mostly fine and dry in the top end, but chance of a light storm around Alice Springs.

Looking ahead to Sunday now, cloudy but mostly dry in Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne, showers for Hobart and Perth, mostly sunny in Adelaide and in Darwin.
