In breaking news: a major earthquake in Haiti has prompted a tsunami warning for parts of the Caribbean, including the Dominican Republic, Cuba and the Bahamas. There are reports the 7.3-magnitude quake destroyed a hospital. We will bring you more news as it comes to us. 

The Federal Government is insisting it hasn’t breached Australia’s security by flying a group of Sri Lankan refugees here. The government transferred the four Tamils from Indonesia to detention at Christmas Island after ASIO deemed they were a security risk. They’ve been refused visas to Australia and the Immigration Department is trying to find a third country to resettle them. 

The United States has angrily denied allegations that it was involved in a death of an Iranian nuclear scientist. The nuclear physics professor was killed when a bomb-rigged motorcycle blew up outside his home in Tehran. The Iranian government says an opposition group operating under the direction of Israel and the United States was behind the murder. 

And residents of a village in Montenegro have been startled to find a hippopotamus wandering their streets. Nikica was a resident of a private zoo, but it was flooded and she floated out with the water.
