Hello, Kirsty Heenan with the National Weather.

Thick cloud over the tropics and central interior is bringing heavy rain and storms. Cloud spreading over South Australia and New South Wales is causing thundery showers. While a monsoonal low in central Australia will see that heavy rain continue.

To the states now, there will be showers and storms over the northern and central Queensland coast, with rain and local thunder extending into western parts, the chance of showers elsewhere.

In New South Wales, showers and thunderstorms for the southern half of the state with some scattered showers in the northeast. It should be mostly fine inland.

Scattered showers and possible storms for northeast Victoria, they should contract to the north before gradually clearing. Patchy drizzle and light showers are in the south.

Tasmania can expect a few light showers in the south. Cool southwest to southeasterly winds will become colder during the day.

In South Australia, there will be showers and storms in the east, moving north overnight. Heavy rain, north of Oodnadatta.

Some drizzle for southern WA moving to the Eucla coast in the afternoon.

Further north, there will be showers and storms in the Kimberley. Monsoonal rain and strong winds along the territory’s northwest coast could cause possible flooding.

Looking ahead now, rain for Darwin, Alice Springs, Brisbane and Sydney. It should be a hot and sunny day for Perth and Broome. And a few late storms for Darwin.
