Greece had hoped that just the promise of EU support, agreed to last month, would've been enough to reassure markets and help the economy recover. To the markets, and Wall Street closed at a 19-month high on the back of health care and energy stocks. The Dow closed 70 points stronger and the NASDAQ put on 11. It was a strong day in Europe too. The FTSE gained 1 percent and Germany's DAX shot up nearly one and a half.

And checking currencies, the Australian dollar's buying 92.8 US cents and 60 British pence.

Melbourne Storm management says it'll ask owner News Limited to help rescue it from its new-found financial woes. The Storm have to pay more than one and a half million dollars to the NRL due to its major salary cap breaches. On top of that sponsors ME Bank and HOSTPLUS have withdrawn their support. Accountancy firm Deloitte will shortly begin a forensic investigation of the club's finances.
