Rescuers have found the wreckage of that plane that went missing in West Africa with six Australian mining executives on board. Cameroon’s information minister said the plane was found in the Congo and that none of the 11 people on board had survived.

Three more Australian soldiers have been killed in Australia’s deadliest day of conflict in Afghanistan. The commandos along with a US soldier were killed when their helicopter crashed mysteriously while being flown into battle. Seven other soldiers were injured too seriously.

A large-scale police search has failed to find a Melbourne gunman overnight. Police say 19-year-old David Rowntree went on a city crime spree yesterday morning, ending with a car chase. Police lost him when he abandoned his car near the MCG. They believed the teenager may have returned to his hometown of Colac, southwest of Melbourne.

And new polls show that marginal seats in Queensland and New South Wales could deliver a coalition victory. Newspoll figures

show key seats won by Labor in 2007 have swung back against Kevin Rudd. In regional Queensland marginal seats, Labor has lost six points and the Prime Minister has a 59 per cent dissatisfaction rating.
