And thick cloud over the central eastern region near an offshore trough is generating showers, the heaviest over southeast Queensland. A cloud band reaching southwest WA in a front is bringing more rain around the states.

There're severe weather warnings in Queensland’s Sunshine Coast with heavy showers developing in the coastal region, and isolated rain and thunderstorms over most of the state.

The rain will continue in New South Wales' northeast with isolated showers along the coast and eastern ranges. It will be mostly sunny over the western half of the state and partly cloudy elsewhere.

It'll be a fine day in Victoria apart from some morning fog patches in Gippsland, but it will be mostly sunny for the remainder of the state.

Tasmania can expect showers across its northern region, but it'll be fine elsewhere.

In South Australia, it'll be fine apart from some isolated fog over the southern agricultural area. A mostly warm and sunny day elsewhere.

Rain in Western Australia with rain and storms in the north and the interior region and late showers in the southwest.

The Territory can expect some isolated afternoon rain in the northern region. It'll be cloudy in the south.

Looking ahead to tomorrow's forecast in the main capitals: showers in Canberra, Sydney and Brisbane, sunny in Melbourne and Alice Springs. It will be cloudy in Perth with a top of 20 degrees.
