 Federal Health Minister Nicola Roxon has been caught out asking a tobacco company for political donations six years ago. The ABC has obtained letters that Ms Roxon wrote to Philip Morris executives back in 2005, inviting them to a $1,500-a-table fund raiser. Now the minister admits sending the letters was a mistake. 

 
All Australian mainland flights will resume this morning. Qantas, Jetstar and Tiger had grounded their Adelaide flights because of the volcanic ash cloud coming across from Chile. Qantas and Jetstar still aren’t flying to or from Tasmania or New Zealand. They’ll reassess that later this morning. 
 
Around 800 people on the New South Wales Mid North Coast have been evacuated as floodwaters there continue rising. Residents in Kempsey are preparing to be inundated. The Macleay River is predicted to breach the town’s levees this morning. The Pacific Highway at Kempsey is closed and many local roads are also flooded, leaving some communities isolated. 
 
Indonesian police have arrested 16 militants that they believe were plotting attacks against the country. The arrests come just two days before the verdict in the terror trial of Islamic cleric Abu Bakar Bashir. Bashir is facing charges of funding a militant group in Indonesia’s Aceh province.
