3. Hurricane Irene is gaining strength as it roars up the coast of Dominique Republic. It is now a category two storm and could be a category four by the end of the week. Forecasters say it could hit the US anywhere from Florida to Carolinas.
 
4. Hall of Fame basketball coach Pat Summit says she has been diagnosed with early onset dementia. The university of Tennessee legend says she still plans on patrolling the sidelines for the upcoming season.
