Cloud associated with a cold front over southwest WA is generating stormy showers but high cloud stretching across the country's south is not bringing rain. In a large high means skies are clear elsewhere.

Taking a look around the country. Queensland would be mostly fine apart from some isolated showers about the northeast tropics. Strong southeasterly winds will persist about the coast north of Cooptown.

New South Wales will also be mostly sunny. Northwest winds will freshen in the west ahead of a late southwesterly change.

Victoria is in for mostly fine day. A late change will sweep across the state, bringing isolated showers and thunderstorm for southern districts.

Shower's increasing to rain for western Tasmania. Other parts of the state will get patchy evening rain.

In South Australia, a fine day apart from isolated showers for the southeast and Kangaroo Island. Hot temperatures for north and west of the state.

Western Australia will see some isolated stormy showers in the southwest of the state.

And in the northern territory, mostly sunny apart from isolated showers about the north coast.

And looking ahead to tomorrow for the capitals, morning drizzle clearing for Melbourne, showers and a possible storm for Perth, cloud clearing for Hobart, partly cloudy for Darwin and fine elsewhere.
