 Salvage crews are trying to remove tons of oil from a container ship that's grounded off the east coast of New Zealand's North Island. The ship hit a reef in the Bay of Plenty and has been spilling oil since last Wednesday. Officials now fear that ship could break up and sink which would cause an environmental disaster. 

 
The Defence Department is investigating the alleged rape of a female soldier while on duty in Afghanistan. The assault allegedly took place at the Tarin Kot military base in Uruzgan province last month. Now, the woman reported it to superiors last week. 
 
Libya's rebels have made significant gains in their battle for Sirte. They've captured the city's hospital, university and conference centre. But heavy fighting is continuing around the city centre. The rebels say they've also captured several soldiers loyal to the Gaddafi regime. 
 
Three Egyptian soldiers have reportedly been shot dead and dozens wounded during a protest in central Cairo. Hundreds of Coptic Christians are demonstrating about the burning of a church in southern Egypt. The protesters are still clashing with anti-riot police and soldiers who are guarding a state television building in central Cairo. 
 
And former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney has married American heiress Nancy Shevell in London. Hundreds of fans gathered outside the registry office in central London to get a glimpse of the couple. The pair posed for photos before heading off for a reception with family and friends. This is Sir Paul's third marriage. His first wife Linda died in 1998, and he divorced his second wife Heather Mills in 2008.
