Botafogo fires head coach Caio Junior(在线收听

RIO DE JANEIRO, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) -- One day after the team's 2-1 loss against America-MG, the Botafogo administration decided to fire head coach Caio Junior on Thursday.

Losing five of its last six games, the vice-president of soccer at Botafogo Andre Silva and team manager Anderson Barros made the decision to Caio. Both Renato Gaucho and the current head coach of Figueirense, Jorginho, are prospects to take control of the team.
The club does not intend on hiring a new head coach any time soon. With three rounds remaining in this year's Brazilian Championship, Botafogo's goalie coach Flavio Tenius will fill in as the interim head coach for the remainder of the season.
Botafogo currently stands in fifth place with 55 points and has lost all hopes of winning this year's tournament, trailing first place Corinthians by 9 points. The team now has the duty of remaining in fifth place or better in order to guarantee the participation in the 2012 Libertadores Cup.
