material scientists admire spider silk for being lightweight and strong.now another arthropod  product is getting into the act insect cuticle,the tough flexible material is inside insect skeleton.researchers at harvard  * institute for biological inspired engineering analyzed the insect cuticle which includes chitin and other proteins,such the fiber also found in spider silk.then they advise method to produce material made up layer of chitin fiber. the result is on part with aluminum alloy for strength, but the half metal's weight. they call the stuff shrilk a combination of shrimp as describe the shrimp are good source of chitin and silk,its flexibility can be manipulated by adjust the water content just as insect too. the reaserch is in journal <advanced materials>.shrilk's creators say it could be a green alternative to plastic for a crash bag even diapers.its strength and biocompatibility could make it good for surgical suture or as a scaffolding for tissue regeneration.shrilk is a clear film,if it can be made to stay clear when thick,it could make a enterprise engineer * transparent aluminum obsolete in advance.
