2. The captain of the cruise liner that ran aground off Italy has been accused of abandoning ship before everyone was safely evacuated. The captain is in custody for suspected manslaughter. Amateur video shows panicked passengers crowded together looking for a way out. 

 

 

 

3. A US coastal guard cutter and a Russian tanker are now just half a mile off Nome, Alaska after cutting through 300 miles of thick ice. The tanker is bringing vitally needed fuel to Nome to help the town get through the winter.
