2. An avalanche killed three men on Sunday in an out-of-bounds area near a popular Washington State ski resort. The avalanche swept the three men down a canyon. A fourth skier was caught in the slide but survived by using an airbag-like device to breathe under the snow. 

 

 

 

3. Several inches of snow socked areas of the southeastern US Sunday. Hundreds of traffic accidents were reported, tens of thousands lost power. 

 

 

 

4. And a helicopter and a small plane collided Sunday over Northern California between Oakland and Sacramento. Both pilots made emergency landings and were treated for minor injuries.
