 Here's the story today. The federal treasurer Waine Swan has confirmed he'll deliver a surplus in tonight's budget. It's expected to be around 1.5 billion dollars. Mr Swan argued that the surplus will act as a a buffer against global finance and security and will give the reserve bank flexibility on interest rates. The opposition leader Tony A. says government has cooked the books. The federal government says it will continue to except the votes of the former library paid turned cross bencher Craig Thompson.
