Sevilla confirm Michel to continue as coach(在线收听

MADRID, May 16 (Xinhua) -- Spanish BBVA Primera Liga club Sevilla on Wednesday confirmed that Michel Gonzalez will continue as the club's first team coach next season.

The 49-year-old joined Sevilla on Feb. 6, replacing the sacked Marcelino Garcia on a deal to the end of this season, which would be automatically extended for another campaign if he was able to lead the club to a top four finish.
Although Michel was not able to qualify Sevilla to a top four, or even a top six finish and qualify the team for Europe next season, his work at the club has impressed club President Jose Maria del Nido as well as the club's fans, who were skeptical over the appointment of the former Real Madrid player.
Sevilla won seven and drew three of the 16 games he was in charge finishing the campaign in ninth place with 50 points.
"We want to give continuity to the project and Michel's footballing philosophy. We think that beyond the results so far, it is able to help us obtain what we are going to demand," explained Del Nido in a press conference on Wednesday evening.
"Michel is convinced he knows the reasons why we didn't get the best out of the squad and the Board voted him to continue with 12 votes in favor and none against," confirmed the president.
