Well, agricultural tax was first recorded in Spring and Autumn period.

In 2004, Chinese Government made the commitment to her 800 million farmers to abolish agricultural tax in five years, marking the termination of China’s agricultural tax system lasting for thousands of years and a great change once in its thousands years of history. 

2004年,中国政府向中国八亿农民承诺,五年内取消农业税。延续了数千年的中国农业税政策终于走到了尽头。这是其几千年历史中的一次巨大变革。
