Bollywood bids adieu to legendary filmmaker

 NEW DELHI, Oct. 22 (Xinhua) -- India's film industry, Bollywood, Monday bid adieu to its legendary filmmaker Yash Raj Chopra who died of dengue in Mumbai Sunday at the age of 80.

All the big names of the film fraternity, including super stars Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan, turned up at Chopra's studio since this morning to have a last glimpse of the veteran film director and film producer, who was best known as the "King of Romance".
The chief minister of the western Indian state of Maharashtra, Prithviraj Chavan, also went to pay his last respect to Chopra who was said to be busy shooting for his last directorial project -- Jab Tak Hai Jaan, due to be released next month. Later in the evening, he was cremated.
The veteran filmmaker, who spent over five decades in Bollywood, died of multiple organ failure at Lilavati hospital where he was admitted on Oct. 13 after contracting dengue, according to doctors.
Chopra, born in Lahore (now in Pakistan) in 1932, made several blockbusters like "Deewar", "Silsila", "Veer Zaara" among others.
He is survived by his wife Pamela and two sons Aditya and Uday.
