What Would You Say to Your Future Self?

Have you ever wished you could travel back in time and offer up some hard-earned wisdom to your younger self? Or how about travel years into the future to check up and give yourself a swift kick in the pants if you’ve ventured too far off path? A site called FutureMe.org, which allows members to send public or private letters to themselves and postdate them years into the future, got us thinking about what we’d say to our future selves. Would we dish up words of inspiration and encouragement to keep pursuing our dreams, or would we keep it simple and direct with timeless advice such as, “Get your sorry ass to the gym and keep eating your veggies”? Maybe we’d steer clear of instructions altogether and instead deliver a snapshot of life as we know it in the hopes that the look back brings a smile to our wrinkled future faces. How about you? What would you say to your future self?

Dear Future Self,
Don't forget the things that brought you here and made you who you are. Be thankful for your friends and remember that "those that don't mind matter, and those that mind don't matter." Love yourself and love life. It cant rain all the time.

Dear Future Self,
You probably wish you still looked like this. Remember this--enjoy your youth.

I would tell myself to do more yoga and eat better of course, but mainly I would put more emphasis on my attitude toward life. I had been too trusting and submissive, now that I have started doing things for myself for my own reasons I have been much better off. So, I would tell myself to keep her chin up and keep working toward your (my) own goals.
