HONG KONG, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale jolted off the east coast of Honshu, Japan at 23: 00:02 GMT on Friday (07:00:02 Beijing

Time), the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 34.20 km, was initially determined to be at 37.7322 degrees north latitude and 143.8633 degrees east longitude.
