 Australia has won the second gold medal on day 10 of the Olympics, world champion sailor Tom Slingsby comfortably dominated the men's laser class final of Weymouth, it's the first individual gold medal of the game for Australia, and meanwhile, the Australian Sports Minister is welcoming Swimming Australia's decision to launch an independent review of its high performance program, it follows Australia's low gold medal showing in the pool, the review will be steered by coach Bill Sweetenham and gold medalist Susie O'Neill.

 
The federal government finally have some good news in the opinion polls, labor's primary vote has jumped 5 points to 33%, that's its strongest position since back in Feburary, but a newspoll for the Australian has found the opposition still retained to two-party-preferred lead of 50% to labor's 46%.
