 Jamaica's Usain Bolt has sprinted into the history books again this morning. He's added to his 100-metre gold by winning the 200 metres as well. It's the first time a man has won both events at two consecutive Olympic Games. Meanwhile, Australia has made it into the top ten of the medal tally after the 4-man kayak team won gold in their events.

 
The Australian Navy has answered another distress call--- this time from a boat carrying more than 200 asylum seekers. They were rescued after reporting engine trouble and they've now been taken to Christmas Island. The Opposition's Immigration spokesman Scott Morrison says more than 22,000 asylum seekers have now arrived on Labor's watch.
 
Australian actor Robert Hughes has been granted bail after appearing in a London court. New South Wales police are trying to extradite the former star of the sitcom “Hey, Dad!”,so that he can face child sexual assault charges.
 
There has been another drive-by shooting in Sydney's west overnight. Police say a number of shots were fired into the front door of an apartment in Guildford, but no one was hurt.
 
And an Australian team has made a mercy dash into Antarctica to rescue an American scientist in need of urgent surgery. It was a rare and dangerous flight,landing in extremely icy conditions. The patient has now been taken to New Zealand for treatments.
