Fast & Furious to peak in conclusion: director(在线收听

BEIJING, Jan. 7 (Xinhua) -- "The Fast and The Furious" film franchise will reach its peak in the sixth installment to be screened in May around the world, the film's director said in Beijing on Monday.

"Fast Six" is a conclusion of the Fast series and the audience will be taken on a brand-new journey, Justin Lin told reporters in an interview.
"I am so lucky to have opportunities to upgrade and rebuild the Fast stories, into which I have brought more humanistic and global concerns," the Chinese-American director said.
Since 2001, the street racing action film franchise has attracted a large number of fans worldwide.
Lin took over shooting the third installment of the series -- The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift -- in 2006, when he was 33 years old.
Tokyo Drift took in nearly 160 million U.S. dollars worldwide, and Lin has directed all the succeeding films in the franchise.
Fast Five was the seventh highest-grossing film of 2011 and it took Lin's total box office to more than 1.2 billion dollars.
The director sees his duty as to try new things, not to be bound to existing elements. "Yes, we have racing cars and beauties in the Fast series, but they are not the focus. The focus is the exploration of a family which has an extraordinary attitude," he said.
As a filmmaker now being mentioned in the same breath as Ang Lee and John Woo, Lin said his goal is to shoot a film in his own style that will be remembered for as long as the works of Lee and Woo.
Last December, Lin and noted Chinese investor Wu Zheng jointly formed a company to introduce Chinese capital directly into the production of Hollywood blockbusters.
"I am excited about the future of the Chinese film market," Lin told reporters.
