NATO forces say they've captured an accomplice of the Afghan soldier who shot dead three Australians last week. Afghanistan's President has condemned the killing of two Afghan men during a raid by Australian troops searching for the rogue soldier. The United States has suspended the training of Afghan police amid growing concerns about insider attacks. The ban on new local police recruits is in place while security checks are carried out. More than forty coalition troops have died in so-called “Green on Blues Attacks” this year. 
 
 
 
In South Africa, murder charges against 270 miners whose colleagues were shot dead by police have been provisionally dropped. Prosecutors say the miners will be freed once formal inquiry into the Marikana Mine massacre is completed.
 
 
 
Victorian police believe an illegal drag race is to blame for a high speed, multi-car pile-up in Melbourne's inner northwest overnight. Seven cars were involved in the crash at Ascot Vale around 10:30. One flipped onto its roof. Several drivers and passengers suffered minor injuries. Police say it's lucky no one was more seriously hurt.
