英闻天下——104 Flu Season Peak Expected for North China(在线收听

Health official says the flu season that started in China's northern provinces in December is expected to peak with infections in the next few weeks.

However, Ministry of Health spokesman Deng Haihua said the expected peak infection levels will not reach that of previous years.

"The current infection level is lower than that of 2010 and 2011. No variation has occurred to the prevailing flu virus strains, and we have vaccine to prevent it."

A total of 360 cases of A/H1N1 flu were reported across China during the past month, including two deaths in Beijing.

Monitoring and statistics from last March onwards showed that in Beijing and Shandong Province, A/H1N1 has been the predominant strain of flu virus.
