[00:01.33]A Trip To The Supermarket 超市追忆

[00:06.36]I walked into the grocery store not particularly interested in buying anything.

[00:12.93]The pain of losing my husband of 37 years was still raw.

[00:18.29]And this store held so many sweet memories.

[00:22.12]Rudy often came with me and every time he’d pretend to go off

[00:27.45]and look for something special.

[00:29.12]And I’d then spot him walking back to me with three yellow roses.

[00:34.44]Rudy knew I loved them.

[00:36.77]The grocery store was different since Rudy had passed on.

[00:41.48]Shopping for one took time, a little more thought than it had for two.

[00:46.51]Standing by the meat, I searched for the perfect small steak

[00:51.31]and remembered how Rudy had loved his steak.

[00:54.61]Suddenly a woman came up beside me.

[00:58.11]I watched as she picked up a package of T-bones and dropped them in the basket,

[01:03.88]hesitated, and then put them back.

[01:07.55]She saw me watching her and smiled.“My husband loves T-bones,

[01:12.41]but honestly, at these prices, I don’t know.”

[01:16.52]I swallowed the emotion down my throat and met her blue eyes.

[01:21.22]“My husband passed away eight days ago,”I told her.

[01:27.17]Glancing at the package, I fought to control the tremble in my voice.

[01:32.12]“Buy him the steaks. And cherish every moment you have together.”

[01:37.56]She shook her head and I saw the emotion in her eyes

[01:42.23]as she placed the package in her basket and wheeled away.

[01:47.72]Ten minutes later, I saw her walking towards me,

[01:50.87]carrying a package in her arms.

[01:53.52]On her face was the brightest smile I had ever seen.

[01:58.00]As she came near, I saw what she held and tears began misting in my eyes.

[02:04.57]“These are for you,”

[02:06.40]she said and placed three beautiful yellow roses in my arms.

[02:11.64]She leaned over and placed a gentle kiss on my check, then smiled again.

[02:16.89]I wanted to tell her what she’d done,

[02:20.04]what the roses meant, but still unable to speak,

[02:24.92]I watched as she walked away, as tears clouded my vision.

[02:29.29]I looked down at the beautiful roses nestled in the green tissue wrapping

[02:34.33]and found it almost unreal.

[02:36.97]How did she know?

[02:39.59]Suddenly the answer seemed so clear. I wasn’t alone.

[02:45.50]“Oh, Rudy, you haven’t forgotten me, have you?”

[02:50.01]I whispered, with tears in my eyes.

[02:52.63]He was still with me, and she was his angel.

[02:57.01]Everyday be thankful for what you have and who you are.
