1. Former US Senator Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania has died. The Republican-turned-Democrat, who played a key role in many Supreme Court nominations, was 82. Specter died Sunday morning from complications of non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. 2. Extreme athlete Felix Baumgartner has landed on earth after a jump from the stratosphere in what could be the world's first supersonic skydive. Baumgartner landed in eastern New Mexico desert minutes after jumping from 24 miles.
3. Anti-narcotics police in Afghanistan burned 25 tons of drugs. Officials say the drugs, drug-making chemicals and alcohol were seized around the capital in the last 9 months.
4. The final journey of Space Shuttle Endeavour was slowed down by trees and other items as it crawled its way to the California Science Museum in Los Angeles. It was supposed to arrive Saturday night, but the trip stretched into Sunday. |
