1. The European Aviation Safety Agency is the latest to join the FAA in ordering the grounding of Boeing 787s. Problems with the new high tech plane's lithium batteries have emerged as the chief safety concern. Japan and India also have grounded the jet they called the "Dreamliner".
 
2. US inspectors are finding hundreds of levees in danger of failing seven years after Hurricane Katrina. The Army Corps of Engineers says of those checked so far, 326 are found to be in urgent need of repair. 
 
3. Staff Sergeant Robert Bales accused of killing 16 Afghan civilians is set to appear in a military court today. His lawyers say he will plead not guilty. The Army may try to bar Bales from using a mental health defense because of his refusal to undergo an official review of his sanity. 
 
4. Notre Dame says Manti Te'o was the victim of an apparent online hoax. This after reports emerged that no record of his dead girlfriend ever existed.
