       TBILISI, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- Georgia's billionaire prime minister Bidzina Ivanishvili said Monday that he intends to step down after the Oct. 27 presidential election, before finishing his term.

  In an open letter to the nation, he said that his resignation would allow him to focus efforts on civil society development.
  "My next and most important task is to develop a healthy civil society sector... and formation of such a society which will not only criticize but which will also get itself involved... and contribute(贡献) toward eventually establish an European-style, democratic, citizen-oriented state," said the prime minister,
  There has been reports for some time about his intention to quit politics.
  The prime minister of the South Caucasus country first revealed the intention soon after his six-party opposition coalition won parliamentary polls on Oct. 1 of last year.
  There has also been reports about his eligibility for the Georgian premiership. Ivanishvili was stripped off his Georgian citizenship shortly after he had pronounced his intention to enter politics in 2011.
  The Georgian president had to make it a special case to allow him to form his cabinet with his French citizenship(公民权).
