Emily was really energetic. She was athletic.  She had two older brothers that really pushed her to kind of want to join the crowd.

She loves people. She loves school. Like many other girls, she loves playing dress-up. Emily came home from school, a little bit more tired than usual and she developed a fever later that night.   We took her to see her pediatrician.  And there she was diagnosed with the flu.
Over the weekends, Saturday, she seemed to be much more lerthargic.  She was vomiting a lot. And Monday morning, we made her an appointment with the pediatrician for early that afternoon.  About  eleven o’clock when I was downstairs, I heard my wife started screaming for help. Emily wasn’t breathing and so we started doing CPR and call the paramedics. They took her to the emergency room at the local hospital. They’ve gotten her heart started again.
The doctor pulled me inside and said we’ve done everything we can.  We cannot give her any more medication. I mean it’s the medication that sort of keeping her heart, the machine that keeping her alive.  And you know we couldn’t detect any brain activity.  And so they stopped giving medication.  I know at 9 o’clock that night, we just gonna said goodbye.
We want everybody to know that influenza, you know, can kill children.  Learning from us, that make sure you do whatever you can do to protect your children from influenza.
