One of the greatest tennis reveries hitting up,once again off-the-court before Wimbledon begins today, defending Champion Serena Williams vs Maria Sharapova both starts with some tough words for each other. And ABC'S Gio Benitez. has the story.
Serene Williams is apologizing again.
-Yeah, I apologize for everything that was said in that article, and I feel,like you know you say things without having all the information.
Known for her tariffs, the melter, those tears leading many to dub her a cry baby,
-I never thought I would be here again, you know.
The 31 year old has seen her share of controversy but this morning fresh criticism and regrate after quotes in the Rolling Stow article. She implied a 16 -year old sexual assault victim in Steubenville,Ohio, quote: “put herself in that position”.
The one of a few things I did was reach out to the family.
But some now are asking, “Is her apology enough?”
Serena William wants to put this behind her.She wants this to be on the sidelines, she wants to play tennis and focusing on that.
That Rolling Stow interview also include negative comments about Maria Sharapova's new boyfriend.
I made a point to reach out to M. as well and I said,look, I want personally apologize to you.
Sharapova and Williams may face each other at Wimbledon in the coming days.
At the end of day, we have terminus matter with respect for what we are doing on the court.But I just think she should be talking about her accomplishments, her achievements other than every thing else that does not get our attention.
Now Williams is promising to talk more about the sport she is so good at without bringing on more controversy.
Maybe I was not focusing enough for // You know, I am definitely gonna try to focus on that for the next weeks.
And Serena Williams has one more potential challenge she will play without her sister Vernus who has back problems. It will be the first time in 17 years that Vernus has missed Wimbledon. Guys back to you.
