 The US military base of Japanese island Okinawa 's long been the source of tension between the two nations. Now a new agreement just unveiled to streamline the US presence there could help to change all of that. Japan's foreign minister is optimistic. "The agreement contains strategy to deal with constantly changing peace and security environment. And also as we have been prioritizing the lessening burden in Oakinowa, including the return of lands, we feel it's a positive and forward-moving agreement. "The revised deal will see 9000 US marine to leave Okinowa, just leave the half foot move to Guam with $3.1 billion of the Japanese founding, the rest will go to other places including Australia and Hawaii Japan is home to 47,000 US troops in total. The US presence in Okinowa has been a source of friction with local residents who claim of crime, noisy, and fatal accidents. The issue of moving the entire base to a new site in a less crowded location remains to be settled.
