 The Senate now seems to be the last best hope bring the US economy from possiblely hurling off the cliff,that's after several efforts by House Speaker John Benhner to get his colleagues sign on a measure      default crashed and burned today .NPR's Timmer on Capitol Hill explains where things stand now. 

The House is supposed to take a vote on a measure that would raise the debts limit,reopen the government and also has some provisions related to the health care law that the House republican want.Well that's scrapted and now it's not clear what the plan is,one leader said they would prepare to make some decisions on Wensday.
Sauces on Capitol Hill say deal is near in the Senate,they would fund the government to the middle of January,rating agency fench meanwhile announces putting the US credit rating watch for a possible downgrade.President Obama meets tomorrow with Treasury Secretary Jack Leu.
The government shutdown offers no relief for the 12 million Americans received an extension on their income taxes.NPR's Dan Bobcoff says today remians the finling deadline.
About 90% of the IRAS staff is currently furloguhed,the one thing hasn't stoped is accepting tax returns and cashing checks for those extensions returns still do today,but don't expect any money back for now until the refund the government reopens.Other IRAS activities also suspended during the shutdown including customer service,the whilse blower office,even audit but Juswa    law school says the IRAS will get them eventually.
