Mo Yizhi seized the opportunity. She posted on Sina Weibo, asking readers to tell a white lie to her sister by answering "eating vegetables can help prevent smog poisoning".

More than 15,000 people left messages for the little girl. And some people say they can feel the positive energy and are even becoming convinced themselves that vegetables can be an antidote to damage from air pollution.
