Performance sensation Cirque du Soleil wow crowds at London's Royal Albert hall on Tuesday, as the Canadian company celebrates its 30th anniversary.

"Quidam" tells the story of a young girl named Zoe. Neglected by her parents, Zoe enters an imaginary world, where she meets characters who encourage her to free her soul.

The show features an international cast of 45 world-class acrobats from 19 countries. Artists perform sequences of acrobatics and human pyramids in synchronised movements. And there is also a breathtaking display of intensity, power and grace suspended high above the stage.

On the red carpet at the show are British Olympians Greg Rutherford and Beth Tweddle, joined by other famous faces, including fashion designer Paul Smith.

"Quidam" made its world premiere in Montreal in 1996. Since then, the production has toured five continents and played to over 10 million patrons worldwide. In December 2010, "Quidam" embarked on a new journey, performing the same production in arenas throughout the world.

The circus group was originally founded in Quebec, after achieving local success as street performers under the name the High Heels Club. It officially became Cirque du Soleil after a performance in 1984, and has since been seen by over 100 million spectators in more than 300 cities.
