   That exhilarating first conversation provided themes Peter and I returned to for the next six years. How to unleash the creativity and productivity of knowledge workers? How to create free markets for ideas and innovation inside and outside a company? How to build the organizational agility and flexibility to respond to and to lead change? Peter’s ideas have become a part of P&G. His basic rule was the importance of serving consumers. And he likes to say the purpose of a business is to create and serve a customer clean and simple. At P&G we have translated this principle into respect for the consumer as boss. Consumer-driven strategy, innovation and leadership are corner stones of P&G success and reflection of the influence Peter has had on me and on our company. The greatest lesson I took away is the over- arching importance of humanity. Peter believed in human possibilities and he was a force for good in world society.
