德国政治家强调预防接种的重要性(在线收听

BERLIN, April 17 (Xinhua) -- German Federal Health Minister Hermann Groehe stressed Thursday the importance of further expanding vaccination of the population on the occasion of this year's European Immunization Week, which starts on April 22, 2014.

"Immunization is one of the great achievements of medicine. It is therefore important to further expand the vaccination of the population," says Groehe.
According to a joint statement by Robert Koch Institute and German Federal Ministry of Health, the vaccination coverage of children just starting school in Germany has risen steadily in recent years.
However, coverage of the standard vaccinations against measles, mumps, rubella and hepatitis B need to be further improved in Germany.
"The major problem is the measles vaccination gaps among adolescents and young adults," said Reinhard Burger, president of Robert Koch Institute.
As vaccination gaps in adolescents and young adults play a significant role in the repeated measles outbreaks, the German Standing Vaccination Committee has recommended since 2010 measles vaccination for all adults born after 1970.
