CCTV9英语新闻:王毅外长会见阿根廷副外长苏阿因(在线收听

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is on a week-long visit to Latin America. On Wednesday, Wang Yi met with his Argentine counterpart Hector Timerman in Buenos Aires. China is now Argentina’s second largest trade partner, and on this visit the two ministers sought to take the relationship further.

Arriving from Venezuela and having also visited Cuba, Foreign Minister Wang Yi arrived in Argentina Wednesday to cement economic and political ties.

The timing coincided with the unveiling of new trains-- to revamp a suburban line, and those trains were bought from China, highlighting the trade between the two. Industry representatives told us this week that there is, quote, ’a good present, but an excellent future’ for the two countries’ relationship.

Meeting Wednesday, Wang Yi and his counterpart, Hector Timerman, signed agreements including construction of a Chinese moon exploration base in the south of the country.

But this meeting is also an important show of solidarity between the two countries.

"We want to highlight the gratitude of the Argentina people for the constant support from China throughout our history, in huge just claim for rights to the Malvinas Islands, at the same time manifest our conviction in continuing to support the policy of a single China regarding the territorial integrity of this country," Hector Timerman said.

"What we are doing is transforming this political relationship into concrete results in Economic performance that benefits both countries," Wang Yi said.

His meeting also laid the groundwork for what Hector Timerman described as a historic landmark in the relationship between the two countries, when Chinese President XI Jinping is set to visit later this year.
