The Red Cross Society of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea has sent a message of sympathy to the South Korean Red Cross over the April 16th ferry disaster.

The message expressed deep sympathy over the mass casualties caused by the ferry "Sewol" sinking in waters off Jindo Island. This is the first such message that’s come from the DPRK to its southern neighbour in 11 years, since an arson attack in South Korea’s Daegu subway that killed nearly 200 people.
