KABUL, Aug. 3 (Xinhua) -- The team of Afghan presidential candidate Abdullah Abdullah on Sunday accused Second Vice President Mohammad Karim Khalili of siding with Abdullah's opponent in the race Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai and involvement in electoral fraud

"Mr. Khalili has assured his supporters that the government, the president, the election commissions and the international friends are in favor of our team and our candidate and have promised to make sure the victory of our candidate in the election, " a member of Abdullah's team Nasrullah Baryali Arsalai told a press conference here.

He also played an audio tape as an evidence regarding Khalili's involvement in the alleged electoral fraud wherein Khalili told his supporters that, "There is no doubt in the victory of our team because President Hamid Karzai and the international community have similar view in supporting our team and are committed to use all option for the victory of a specific team in the presidential elections."

 

However, Khalili has rejected the claim and said in his tweeter, "This tape is a fake."

 

Abdullah's team in the past had accused Ziaul Haq Omarkhil, the ex-chief secretary of the Election Commission of siding with Ghani Ahmadzai and involvement in fraud which prompted Omarkhil to resign.

 

Afghanistan's presidential runoff was held on June 14 but the result has yet to be announced.
