A fortnight after the impact, the meteor strike isstill big news in Russia. In Chelyabinsk there is a popular new winter pastime,hunting for any fragments of the meteorite that remain. 

 

Scientists have also been out in force, particularlyaround Lake Cherbarkul where there is evidence of an impact in the ice. So manyfragments have been found here. It’s been called the Cherbarkul meteorite. Theyare trying to piece together exactly what happened because the fact is no onein the scientific world saw this coming.
