2. Vermont’s former GOP Senator, James Jeffords, who tipped control of the Senate away from the GOP when he became an independent in 2001has died at the age of 80.
 
3. Iraqi army claims its forces along with Kurdish troops have recaptured the Mosul Dam from Islamic militants, following two days of US airstrike. Early Monday, the Islamic State Group insisted it remains in control of Iraq’s largest dam. 
 
4. US stock moved higher Monday following big gains in Europe in the latest moves in corporate deal making. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose a little more than 1 percent while the S&P 500 and the NASDAQ Composite were both up as well.
