3. One of North Carolina's longest-serving death row inmates is free. Fifty-year-old Henry McCollum walked out of central prison in Raleigh on Wednesday. New DNA evidence in the 30-year-old murder case purged him the crime.

4. And the drug store chain CVS won't sell you a pack of cigarettes or cigars any more. Instead, customers will see nicotine gum and signs urging smokers to kick the habit.
