The battle for Kobani is still raging despite more than 2 weeks airstrikes by the US led coalition. 
 
3. Japan was bracing for destructive winds and huge waves as a powerful typhoon moved towards its southern island of Okinawa. Flights have been cancelled and ground transportation has also been halted in the area.
 
4. More than 1,000 people gathered for a 2nd day of organized rallies to protest Michael Brown’s death and other fatal police shootings in the St, Louise area. The 4-day event called Ferguson October began Friday afternoon with a march outside the St, Louise County prosecutor’s office.
