Rachel Lee: The nation's manufacturers were busy in April. The Institute for Supply Management reports strong growth in the sector last month. George Nolen, President & CEO of Siemens USA says, that's in line with what his company is seeing and energy costs are the only weak point.

George Nolen : Those would be the more troubled spots, but all other indicators say that everything is pushing through and we continue to show re-growth.

Rachel Lee : Meantime, American consumers spent more freely in March and their incomes grew with the fastest pace since September.

Rachel Lee: The health of Social Security and Medicare have taken a turn for the worse. Treasury Secretary John Snow:

John Snow: What I report demonstrates to something we've known for a long time. The social security problem remains with us. The system is seriously under-funded and it's not financially sustainable.

Rachel Lee: An annual report shows Medicare will go bust in 12 years, Social Security will run out of money by 2040. Once the trust funds are exhausted, that means beneficiaries will get only a percentage of the benefits they were promised.

Rachel Lee : The average cost of gasoline slipped by a penny over the weekend to 2 dollars and 92 cents a gallon. But analysts say that trend will not continue.

Rachel Lee : Yahoo! hopes to make technology more user-friendly with a new section. Liz Kennedy has details.

Liz Kennedy : It's called " The Yahoo! Tech" , a new channel on their website where you can get information on a variety of gadgets.

Patrick Houston : Computers, MP3 players, digital cameras, HDTV...

Liz Kennedy : That's Patrick Houston, General Manager for Yahoo! Tech. He says their mission is to make it easy to understand the technology you are using.

Patrick Houston :What we are doing is simply helping people to get a grasp of digital intelligence.
